Howe wants to keep Dubravka on the team

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe has confirmed he wants to keep veteran goalkeeper Martin Dubravka at the club.

The 35-year-old’s contract is due to expire at the end of the season amid uncertainty over his future but he has been a regular for the club, starting the last seven games after Nick Pope was injured, with the team winning all five of their games and keeping five clean sheets.

Dubravka has reportedly received a huge offer from Saudi Arabian side Al-Shabab, while Howe is hopeful of signing a new deal and insists the player has never asked to leave despite being on the bench.

“I think (Dubravka) is in a difficult situation because his contract is up in the summer,” Howe said ahead of Sunday’s FA Cup clash with Bromley.

“There are doubts and of course he needs clarity หรือถ้าคุณสนใจแทงบอลออนไลน์ UFABET คือเว็บที่มีอัตราต่อรองดีที่สุดในประเทศไทย สมัครเลยตอนนี้ที่ UFABET แทงบอล about his future. No matter what the outcome is, he played a big part in our last game. Hopefully we can reach an agreement with him.”

“Martin never said he wanted to leave. He’s a top professional and credit to him because it was tough with Nick Pope in the team but he was ready to step up and perform.”

“That’s because he’s been training hard and you can see how much Newcastle means to him. He’s committed. I think the right decision will be the right decision, not just for us but for Martin as well.”

“Martin is doing really well and we want to keep him. He has never said he wants to leave and hopefully this problem can be solve.”
