Athletic Bilbao midfielder Oian Sanset has signed a new nine-year contract with the football club until mid-2032.

The Spanish midfielder’s original contract with the Basque Country is until mid-2024. Amid the news that famous clubs across Europe are interested. Especially Chelsea, who have their eyes on it.

The club issued a statement confirming this matter. An interesting point is that Sanset has agreed to a nine-year contract with the club until mid-2032. 

“This is my home. It’s where I want to be.’ said the Spain international after his last game.

“Athletic is a great club for all Basque players and I want to be here. There is no better club than here to develop as a player and as a person.

Sanset rose through the youth ranks at Athletic Bilbao to the first team in 2019. He has stood out this season, scoring eight goals in 25 La Liga appearances. The game led the club’s top scorer. 

As a result, the 22-year-old has been a target for Liverpool and Chelsea. But Athletic Bilbao are trying to keep him at the club. The Basque club are in talks over a new contract with Sanset, whose current deal expires in the summer of 2024, with the expectation that both parties will reach an agreement soon.
